A recent feature in the December 2013 issue of Dance Magazine (and available on its website) highlights the Headlong Dance Theater and the Headlong Performance Institute’s semester away program, which is accredited through Bryn Mawr College.
The article, an overview of the expanding Philadelphia dance scene, describes the city and its surrounding area as “an increasingly appealing––and affordable––option for dancers.”
The Dance Magazine article draws attention to the diverse offerings of the Headlong Performance Institute program, noting its “range of courses, including improvisation, clowning, composition, and dramaturgy.”
Professor of Theater Mark Lord serves as the HPI academic director.
The article also highlights Bryn Mawr’s Performing Arts Series in a section about area dance venues.
“Head to Bryn Mawr College, just outside the city, to see edgier contemporary work,” write the article’s authors.
In 2014, the Performing Arts Series brings the Liz Gerring Dance Company to Goodhart Hall on Friday, Feb. 28.
Dance artist and dance writer Lisa Kraus is the coordinator of Bryn Mawr’s Performing Arts Series.
