The 125th Anniversary Scholarship Initiative has exceeded all expectations by raising $5.3 million, more than four times the $1.25 million goal.

The Board of Trustees launched this fundraising effort to celebrate the College’s 125th anniversary and meet students’ growing need for financial aid. The Scholarship Initiative was designed so that donors at all levels could participate. The final scholarship tally includes new and increased contributions to the Annual Fund as well as bequests and major and planned gifts.

Proceeds from the 125th Anniversary Scholarship Benefit, held at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on April 27, also supported this year’s effort. More than 400 alumnae/i, parents, staff, and friends danced the night away at the fundraising gala, which attracted Bryn Mawrters of all generations, from the Class of 1942 to the Class of 2011. A slideshow of photos of this extraordinary evening is included above.

“We are delighted so many donors showed their support for Bryn Mawr students by attending the gala and making gifts to the Scholarship Initiative,” says Donna Hooven Frithsen P’10, chief development officer. “A growing majority of our students rely on financial aid, and gifts to the Scholarship Initiative will help keep a Bryn Mawr education accessible to talented young women from this country and around the world.

“For 125 years, each Bryn Mawr generation has supported the one that comes after,” Frithsen continues. “It’s marvelous to see that tradition continue with this outstanding show of generosity.”
