125th-Anniversary Gala in New York Will Raise Funds for Scholarships

Gala graphicAlumnae/i and friends will celebrate Bryn Mawr’s past while looking toward its future at the 125th Anniversary Scholarship Benefit, which will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. All proceeds of the event will support scholarships for Bryn Mawr students.

The scholarship gala will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. and continue with a brief program at 7 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing to an eight-piece band and a DJ. The celebration will continue from 10 p.m. until midnight at the GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) After-Party. The gala will be held in Frederick P. Rose Hall, a dramatic space featuring a 50′ x 90′ wall of glass and views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.

The College is holding this event for two important reasons, explains Chief Development Officer Donna Hooven Frithsen. The first is to raise money for scholarships. “A scholarship is an investment in talent, an investment in the future. Each scholarship gives a talented young woman access to the extraordinary education Bryn Mawr offers.”

The second reason for the gala is to give alumnae/i and friends the opportunity to connect with the College and each other. “This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for alumnae/i of all generations to reminisce with old friends and make new ones,” Frithsen explains.

A committee of 34 alumnae/i  and parents is working with the College to plan the gala.  Members of the 125th Anniversary Scholarship Gala Committee are helping with marketing, ticket sales, décor, menu planning and more. “We are fortunate to have so many volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talents to make this event a success,” explains Director of Donor Relations and Special Events Anna Kamstra ’80.

Gala tickets are now on sale on the gala’s website. Tickets are $500 per person and tables with 10 reserved seats are $10,000. To attract recent graduates, the College is offering members of the GOLD classes a special reduced ticket price of $125, which includes the gala and the after-party. Those unable to attend can participate (and support scholarships) by purchasing an ad in the keepsake tribute journal, which will be distributed to all gala guests. Like tickets, tribute journal ads can be purchased on the gala website.

“We’re grateful to everyone who has already lent their support to the gala by buying tickets or tables, purchasing ads in our tribute journal or becoming a sponsor.  We invite others to join them for what promises to be a spectacular evening for Bryn Mawr,” Frithsen explains.
