Among those attending the 2011 Hepburn Medal Ceremony, trustee Susan MacLaurin ’84 was particularly thrilled that CARE CEO Helen Gayle was this year’s honoree.

McLaurin is part of a group planning to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funds in support of CARE.

The group leaves on Feb. 26 and hopes to reach the summit on International Women’s Day, March 8.

“A big part of my motivation for doing this is that it’s my own personal way to celebrate Bryn Mawr’s 125th anniversary,” says MacLaurin. “Many of the families who send their children to Bryn Mawr really do climb mountains to educate their children.”
