Rhianna Shaheen ’14 is headed to the Academy Awards as part of “Team Oscar.” Shaheen is one of six young filmmakers who will hand the Oscars to celebrity presenters during the broadcast. Team Oscar winners were selected based on a creative 60-second video on the subject, “The best piece of advice I’ve ever received.”

For Shaheen it was a piece of advice she got from Swarthmore faculty member Erica Cho when Cho was teaching at Bryn Mawr.

On receiving the news, Shaheen wrote to Cho:

“I think it was in our animation class you were telling us that ‘No one was coming for us’ and that we had to make it happen ourselves. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for being so supportive of me and my creative endeavors all these years, and I hope you can watch on February 22nd!!”
