Students Show Donor Appreciation with Upcoming Give a Hoot Day on Feb. 7

Posted February 6th, 2014 at 12:25 pm.

On Friday, Feb. 7, Bryn Mawr students are invited to stop by the Campus Center and show their appreciation for the generous donors who make attending Bryn Mawr possible as the College celebrates the sixth annual “Bryn Mawr Gives a Hoot Day.” Give a Hoot Day symbolically marks the point halfway through the school year when revenue from students’ tuition ceases to support the operational costs of the College and support from donors and other sources takes over in sustaining Bryn Mawr for the remainder of the year.

Development staff will be at the Campus Center from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with 1,000 thank-you cards to donors that students can sign to show their appreciation. The staff will also be able to answer questions students have about giving and to share information on the role philanthropy plays in sustaining Bryn Mawr, while all who take part in Give a Hoot activities will enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate!

Thousands of individuals – alumnae/i, parents, and friends – participate in an effort that is life-changing for Bryn Mawr women by giving to the Bryn Mawr Fund each year. In 2013, Bryn Mawr’s supporters gave $5.17 million to the College through the Bryn Mawr Fund.  Participation by undergraduate alumnae in the Bryn Mawr Fund rose to 36 percent in the 2013 fiscal year, and the College hopes to build on this momentum in 2014.

Bryn Mawr donors choose to give because they believe in the deeply-meaningful and life-changing qualities of a Bryn Mawr education. They want the Bryn Mawr education they know and love to endure. Simply, Bryn Mawr donors “give a hoot!” “Hoot” for Bryn Mawr by sharing your Owl pride (and gear) on our Facebook page on Friday, February 7th.
