The following email was sent by Interim President Kim Cassidy to faculty, students, and staff on Thursday, Feb. 6.
Dear Members of the Bryn Mawr Community,
It’s been a tough couple of days, but once again members of the Bryn Mawr community have come together to take care of each other. Special thanks in particular go to our facilities, dining services, transportation, residential life, housekeeping, and campus safety staff for helping us all weather the storm.
Many people in these departments have worked around the clock, slept on campus, and left their families in order to serve our community. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I also want to give a special thanks to our students. During the last few days you’ve dealt with power outages, transportation issues, and uncertainty about whether classes would be held. It hasn’t been easy, yet you have dealt with the situation with understanding and patience and looked out for one another all the while.
I’m happy to report that the main campus now has near 100% power. However, we still aren’t completely out of the woods and can expect fluctuations over the next few days as the region continues to recover. One thing to keep in mind is the need to save any work you’re doing every so often so as not to lose it should we experience a temporary outage. The Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and Arnecliffe remain without power, so please offer any help to our friends and colleagues there.
Please continue to exercise caution when walking on campus. We expect to have tree service crews on campus as early as tomorrow to get rid of the debris and downed tree limbs.
Thank you again everyone. Stay safe, warm, and dry and remember only four weeks until spring break!
With best wishes,
