It’s never too soon to start planning for your future after Bryn Mawr or too soon to start planning for fall break 2011.

Students interested in learning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship can do so at Bryn Mawr’s second business certificate workshop, being held for two days over the 2012 fall break, Oct. 14 & 15.

Like the Certificate in Finance Workshop offered in spring 2011, this workshop brings to campus a mix of entrepreneurs, investment professionals and Bryn Mawr alumnae who have made their mark in the world of business to give Bryn Mawr students an immersive two day crash course on how to connect their liberal arts education to starting your own business.

Golden Seeds, is a New York-based angel investor group dedicated to supporting women entrepreneurs, A team of managing directors from Golden Seeds will be leading an entrepreneurial workshop at Bryn Mawr — sharing their expertise in finance, marketing and what investors are looking for when deciding whether or not to fund a new business.

Each session will focus on a different component of business planning, giving participants the tools that are critical to creating and executing a viable business model. The workshops have been developed as a result of seeing dozens of entrepreneurs every month – providing a solid understanding of what it takes to build a business and secure investor funding. Going it alone is both exhilarating and exhausting; so the goal is to guide entrepreneurs on how to prepare and navigate the pitfalls that can threaten their dreams. That means everything from solid marketing to making sure you don’t give away too much of your company.

Key components of the agenda will include:

  • The business model and business planning
  • Critical financial tools
  • Marketing strategy and implementation
  • Securing outside funding
  • The investor pitch
  • Exiting – when to sell your business

More information will be made available this summer on the treasures office web site. Students interested in attending the workshop can contact Sydney Coppola at scoppola(at)brynmawr(dot)edu.
