Using the Bryn Mawr Twitter account and the hashtag #bmcpres, McAuliffe has been tweeting daily since July 3, when she and husband Dennis McAuliffe, a professor of Italian at Bryn Mawr, packed their cycling gear in anticipation of the trip. The five-day journey began Sunday, July 4, in Bristol, Vt., proceeded north to Isle la Motte, and circled back down to Middlebury, with plenty of opportunities for picnicking, swimming, kayaking, and exploration of Vermont culture.

Eight intrepid  alumnae and family members are braving the summer heat with the McAuliffes and Alumnae Association Executive Director Wendy Greenfield, who has appeared in McAuliffe’s tweeted photos along with a picturesque historic shrine and a dairy farm where an alumna played host to the group. The trip will conclude on Friday, July 9.
